Centenary: First stone

13/30

The commemorative commission of the Centenary of the Japanese Immigration to Peru decided to build a clinic as a commemorative work of this celebration — a work symbolizing the gratitude of the descendants of Japanese immigrants to the country that welcomed their ancestors.
The photo shows Mr. Toshiki Kaifu, ex-Prime Minister of Japan and President of the Japan-Peru Parliamentary League, at the ceremony on May 30, 1999 for laying the first stone of the Clinic of the 100th Anniversary. The Clinic opened its doors 6 years later, in December, 2005.
