Merchants’ Associations

Like the Barbers’ Association, Japanese immigrants established various merchants’ associations in order to get mutually acquainted and help each other. The image shows the Association of Merchants of the Central Market of Lima, established in 1919.
The following organizations, among others, were created: the Household Goods’ Merchants’ Association of Lima in 1914, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Lima in 1915, the Japanese Trade Association of Callao in 1918, the Japanese Association of Restaurant Owners in 1919, and the Storekeepers’ Association of Callao in 1919.
