Used by Usaku and Umeyo Morihara for cutting away unneeded trees and bushes around the coffee field. The handle is branded with a Chinese character “mori,” one of the letters of the donor’s family name.
Usaku was a native of Yamaguchi Prefecture and immigrated to Kona, Hawaii in 1907 where he worked in coffee cultivation. He was involved in the Kona Japanese Chamber as an officer, and also Daifukuji Soto Mission and Yamaguchi Kenjin Kai as an officer and a director.
