First Japanese Legation in Peru

In response to the increasing bilateral relations between both governments, on December 22, 1921 Japan established the first Japanese legation in Peru, appointing Seizaburo Shimizu as Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Peru.
Until that time the ministers in Mexico or Chile had been in charge of affairs in Peru.
